Skills Development: Motivational Coaching: An Added Dimension with Lesley Matile - 9th January 2018

Coaching, by its very nature, is motivational; the client has the sole attention of the coach who is focused on enabling them to excel. Why would that not be enough? Yet, we all know that change, and particularly behavioural change, is much more difficult than we think. Although we may not like to acknowledge it, we often have much invested in our old ways of being and doing!

About this event:

Coaching, by its very nature, is motivational; the client has the sole attention of the coach who is focused on enabling them to excel. Why would that not be enough? Yet, we all know that change, and particularly behavioural change, is much more difficult than we think. Although we may not like to acknowledge it, we often have much invested in our old ways of being and doing!

How do we facilitate the more reluctant clients to be ready, willing and able to engage in coaching?

What can we as coaches, do to help clients maintain that early motivation?

How can we help clients prevent a slip backwards?

By the end of this session you will have:

  • unpacked the topic of motivational coaching
  • gained some tactics and techniques to help the client feel energised and determined throughout the coaching… and beyond.

ABOUT LESLEY MATILE:

Lesley splits her time between executive coaching, introducing coaching cultures to forward thinking organisations and coach supervision. Her aim is always to enable people to excel and bring the very best of themselves to achieve their desired goals.

She began her working life in the Probation Service supervising high risk offenders. It was here, in this most demanding of environments, that Lesley developed her coaching and motivation skills; telling a career offender to change would have had a purely negative impact, but facilitating them to present their own arguments for change was often a great prelude to future success.

These motivational skills are now used in the corporate world, particularly helping those sent for coaching and the more reluctant, to consider why, and then how, they might need to develop in the VUCA world in which we now operate.

Lesley has had her own coaching business since 2000. She is a member of AC.  She is accredited with EMCC at the Master Practitioner level and speaks on a variety of aspects of coaching at conferences and workshops.

This event is eligible for CPD and a Certificate will be emailed to you following your attendance.

We look forward to seeing you there!
