Press the pause button: The power of reflection

A leader today is faced with a range of conflicting demands on their time and can often struggle with priorities and paradoxical messages about what is important. Coaches can support them by building their resilience and shaping their coping strategies, one of which is the use of reflection. Increasing numbers of prominent leaders are proactively “pressing the pause button” during their working week citing the activity as a key productivity tool.

This webinar will focus on how to build resilience and outline how reflection can become a powerful tool. You will have access to the latest research from Henley Business School on how reflection can support leaders and a case study on how a group of Operational managers responded to a period of regular reflection.

This webinar is aimed at coaches who support leaders with developing resilience and the speaker will share how they can support their teams through changing times.

In this webinar, we will interview Sue Blight to find out:

  • How to build reflection into a wider structure of resilience for leaders;
  • How to use the structure of reflection to create a balanced focus of learning;
  • The benefits as well as barriers to reflection.

We will also consider key learning points such as...

  • The requirement to set reflective goals;
  • The key components to remain resilient in the moment;
  • The changing demands of leaders.

Resources

Sue will share a template for reflection that can be used with coaches as well as coachees. She will also provide a model of resilient leadership which encompasses not just bouncing back from difficulties, but also leading proactively.

Speaker Bio

Sue BlightSue Blight is an experienced business coach, specialising in developing leadership resilience. Whilst studying for her Masters at Henley Business School she became interested in developing methodologies to enable managers to be on the front foot in an agile and sometimes reactive business world. Her dissertation on the power of reflection was awarded a distinction. This focus feeds into her training programmes which she delivers to organisations across a wide range of sectors.

She has held a number of senior Learning & Development positions in FTSE 100/250 businesses which have enabled her to appreciate the need for deep connections between the need to develop key talent and business productivity.

The result is the production of practical tools to enable leaders to quickly apply their learning, as well as offering a range of psychometric profiles to engage leaders in their own brand and their “Shadow of leadership”.
