Relational Depth in Coaching and Supervision

Often coaches come to supervision declaring that they “wish my client would go deeper” or “our work feels transactional and only on the surface”.

This series of exploratory conversations and dialogues are for both coaches and supervisors who wish to explore and deepen their personal awareness and capacity to work more deeply in relationship with their clients.

The main topics we will explore include the psychological phenomena of relationship and how these impact on our ability to be present with our clients.  Given that coaching and supervision are learning platforms, we will consider how our own expectations and assumptions may enable or hinder our capacity to engage and work “deeply” with our clients to enable them to “go deeper” in safe ways that allow them to make sustainable change.

In this webinar series you will learn:

a)      How to create the core conditions of safety and trust in coaching and supervision

b)      How to notice and attend to our own patterns and preferences in developing learning relationships

c)      How to manage our own triggers and relational responses that may arise with our clients that may hinder the work

Topics and schedule for the webinar series

**Live webinars will take place at: 13:00pm GMT on the above mentioned dates.

Webinar 1: Creating the Core Conditions in our work

Here we will explore how we prepare ourselves as we engage in our client relationships.  We will consider how our clients may be arriving and how we set up the work.

Webinar 2: Bringing all of ourselves to coaching and supervision

We will consider what we value about our wider experience and knowledge, beyond the tools and techniques that we may have learned in our training.  Here too we will explore what we may share of ourselves in terms of content or style, behaviours, beliefs, “personality”.

Webinar 3: Co-creating the relationship in coaching and supervision

How do we meet our client?  What impact do they have on us?  How do we manage, respond and engage with our client to enable them to bring themselves into the work that will enable deeper levels of connection and thus learning or change?

Webinar 4: Realising our potential through supervision

While the work of coaching and supervision is exciting and rewarding, it can also be challenging and demanding, especially in complex organisational systems. Here we will explore how we can engage with our supervisor, practically, emotionally, mentally to attend to our well-being and refreshment that allows us to be at our best in our client relationships.

Recordings and slides will be made available for all registered participants.

Preparation & Resources

Before each webinar, Alison will send a number of questions that invite participants to reflect on before they arrive for the session.

Following each webinar, participants will have access to the recording, slides, reading resources and practical exercises.
