Coaching Financial Wellness

Financial wellness is a multi-faceted experience, covering everything from the ability to pay the monthly bills, to having a clear understanding of how one's relationship to money fits into a meaningful life.

Compared to physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, discussions of finance can be intimidating and uncomfortable, despite money's undeniable and unavoidable impact on our lives.

This webinar series will provide you with a clearly marked road map to navigate 'money life'.  We will define core concepts and introduce a series of mental models that simplify our complex financial reality.  Along the way, we will destigmatize the discussion of money, both personally and professionally.

This webinar series is aimed at Coaches wanting to better understand financial wellness, not only as another tool in their coaching toolkit but also for their personal journey.

Coaches will be better equipped to help their clients - and themselves - avoid mistakes, form better habits, and connect financial wellness to other sources of achievement and meaning.

In this webinar series you will learn:

  • About the four core expressions of financial wellness, including the idea of “funded contentment.” We will indulge some of the current neuroscience research on the "future self" and its usefulness in enriching our sense of financial wellness

  • Why each of us has a "script" which defines our relationship to money, how to consciously understand that script, and how to edit our story for personal growth

  • A 3-stage coaching model which connects the defining purpose, setting life (including financial) priorities, and making sound decisions

  • How to comfortably and safely introduce money-related topics into your coaching practice without the need for any expertise in finance or economics

We will also consider key learning points such as:

  • How the multi-trillion-dollar financial advice industry is experimenting with "goals-based wealth management" and how the expertise of properly trained and certified coaching professional s might dovetail with that movement
  • The relevance of expectations management for achieving financial wellness.  Well beyond the stock market, our lives are filled with "benchmarks" and how we choose to define, manage, and update them has a material impact on our happiness

Topics and schedule for the webinar series

**Live webinars will take place at 13.00 BST on the above-mentioned dates.

Webinar 1: The Meaning and Expressions of Financial Wellness

Because money can be such a difficult topic, both analytically and emotionally, we'll create to comfortably explore the contours of "money life".

That will include:

  • its 7 different expressions
  • connections to other forms of wellbeing (physical, emotional)
  • importance of exploring often sub-conscious beliefs and "scripts"

Webinar 2: Modeling Financial Wellness

In this session, we will work through a fully developed financial wellness coaching model.  It is modular in nature, with built-in opportunities for customization and personal expression.  The model's meta-narrative is that true wealth (i.e., the ability to underwrite a meaningful life, or "funded contentment") is the result.

Webinar 3: Rigorous Empathy

In the third and final session, we will explore several ways in which coaches without deep financial expertise can introduce financial wellness into their broader practice. We will engage in exercises to illuminate and hopefully inspire these skills.

Recordings and slides will be made available for all registered participants.

It would be advantageous to have read Brian's book,  The Geometry of Wealth before the sessions.  Registered participants will be offered a code for a 35% discount off the printed or eBook through the publisher, Harriman House in their booking confirmation.

We will engage in a wide range of exercises to unpack money stories, think about "funded contentment," and introduce financial wellness into our broader coaching practices.  We will distribute worksheets, templates, and other tools to facilitate these exercises.
