My overall goal in my coaching practice is to help people flourish and give of their best. Many of my coaching clients work in professional service firm environments and are experiencing obstacles in their professional lives such as a lack of confidence or self belief, underdeveloped leadership skills, a lack of clarity around their strengths and / or their unique offering to their organisations. I create a safe place for them to think about these challenges, plan ways to overcome these obstacles and plan for future success. I have over 20 years of experience working in professional service firms predominantly in a Learning and Development capacity which enables me to fully appreciate the organisation and political context within which my clients are working. I completed the Meyler Cambell Business Coach programme (a WABC and AC accredited training programme) in 2013 and have been working with Sherwood a specialist coaching and training organisation since 2014.
The main focus of my coaching practice is supporting high performing individuals navigate successful career transitions. Typical examples include: helping future leaders prepare for promotion, build a business case and navigate the promotion process; supporting a successful transition back into practice following a period of maternity leave; assisting newly promoted first time leaders to build confidence and credibility in their new role, develop their leadership skills and a develop sustainable working practices; supporting senior executives to prepare for retirement and assisting them with their succession planning;
I use a number of psychometric tools to support my coaching practice where appropriate including Strengths profiles, MBTI (the Myers Briggs Type Indicator personality inventory), TKI (the Thomas Kilman conflict mode instrument) and HPTI (the Thomas High Potential Trait Indicator).
I have recently discovered the pure joy and benefits to general well being that comes from music making with other people and now sing regularly with my choir. Thankfully entry was not by audition as my enthusiasm is not matched by my talent! I also enjoy long walks with my dog (a rather stupid but utterly adorable labradoodle) and having now found myself an empty nester I am also now able to indulge another passion which is travelling.
