I have worked with a wide range of people all my life; from being a youth worker in my early 20s, through to a career in Sports and Youth Development and then 15 years in Further Education, supporting many young people to pick their way through difficult life decisions and challenges. I have experience of supporting practising clinicians at the University of Exeter juggle their post graduate studies with their working and personal lives. I also give time to Young Devon, a local charity, to provide support to people aged 10 - 24 years who are seen as victims of a wide range of crimes. My clients are a mix of ages and backgrounds who feel a little stuck. Together, we are able to recognise and understand our ability to be led by our thinking and point to the well-being that is already there. I particularly enjoy working with 10 - 25 year olds but do not rigidly stick to categories.
I believe no-one is broken. We innately know what's best for us, but sometimes there is so much over-thinking getting in the way, we seem to have lost sight of who we really are. It doesn't matter what age we are, we can all get bogged down with the same heavy layers of over-thinking. When we are able to recognise we are thinking our way into a black hole, or that we are blaming others for our current feelings, we can enjoy a sense of calm; a moment of clarity where we can see our true self, with the ability to safely navigate through the next steps in our busy lives.
