Positive Psychology for Coaching
Positive Psychology and coaching are a perfect match, both aimed at helping clients to flourish.
Dr. Carol Kauffman defines positive psychology coaching as "a scientifically-rooted approach to helping clients increase well-being, enhance and apply strengths, improve performance and achieve value goals".
It's an evidence-based coaching practice, informed by the theories and research of positive psychology for the enhancement of wellbeing, achievement and resilience.
This webinar series will introduce you to the major elements in positive psychology and show you how to use the science to enhance your coaching practice.

Webinar 1: Positive Psychology for Wellbeing
This webinar introduces positive psychology as the applied science of wellbeing. We'll explore the key models of happiness and the benefits of and barriers to happiness. We'll get to know the two major dimensions of wellbeing and explore the broaden and build theory of positive emotions as well as a range of positivity practices.
Webinar 2: Positive Psychology for Achievement
In this session we explore our strengths - how we are at our best and how to apply our strengths to realize our potential. We also delve into motivation, the growth mindset and grit - how to keep going towards our goals. Pre-work required - please see below.
Webinar 3: Positive Psychology for Resilience
Our final session is about applying positive psychology to build resilience and recover our wellbeing. We'll explore positive coping, optimism practices including the ABCDE model, which is a major element of the Penn Resilience Programme. We'll also look at the silver lining in adversity - post-traumatic growth.
Recordings and slides will be made available for all registered participants.
Preparation
We'll be working with your strengths in webinar 2 so please complete the VIA strengths survey at www.viacharacter.org and bring your results to the session. You can take the test for free and download your results without paying for a report.
Speaker Bio

Miriam Akhtar MAPP is a positive psychologist and leading practitioner of
the science of wellbeing in the UK.
She is one of a hundred global experts invited to contribute to the World Book of Happiness and its sequel the World Book of Hope. Miriam works as a coach and trainer and is a visiting lecturer on the Executive Masters of Applied Positive Psychology (EMAPP)
at the University of Lisbon.
She offers training in wellbeing and resilience alongside Positive
Psychology Masterclasses and the online Positive Psychology Foundations course
through www.positivepsychologytraining.co.uk.
Miriam’s books include “Positive Psychology for Overcoming Depression” (Watkins, 2nd edition, 2018), “What Is Post-Traumatic Growth” (Watkins, 2017), and “The Little Book of Happiness” (Gaia Books, 2019). Miriam is also a featured expert in
the Psychologies book of resilience tools - Real Calm.
