About the event

In this session on Radical Listening1, we will focus on the skill of “Noticing”.

Radical Listening means more than just hearing or comprehending. It is a suite of social skills that takes in and uses information from multiple sources. Noticing is a gateway skill in that it provides the focus for coaching questions, acknowledgments, and other interventions.

Although seasoned coaches tend to be adept at noticing, there is always room for growth. In this experiential 90 min presentation, Dr. Robert Biswas-Diener will (re)introduce participants to the skill of noticing within the Radical Listening framework

We will discuss what we notice, why we notice, and what we are more likely to overlook.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • explain the link between attention and noticing
  • increase your awareness of your unique noticing habits
  • use note-taking, in particular graphic recording techniques, more effectively in your coaching.
