Creative Coaching Festival: Interactive, Global, Online
The AC Creative Coaching Festival will be an opportunity to explore the concepts of play and practice and to delve into lots of the insightful research that underpins creativity in coaching.
Join us for two interactive days to explore self-creativity, engage your curiosity and experiment with various creative tools and techniques. Taking us on this journey will be a community of respected coaches within this field, all of whom will be inviting us to play, practice, and engage with our inner creative curiosity!
In this online two-day festival, you will learn: • What creativity in coaching is, why it matters and what to consider when using creativity in coaching • The research behind using creativity within coaching • A wide variety of creative techniques and tools • Responsibilities, ethics and the future of creative coaching
Who is this for?
It’s for anybody! Coaches, creatives, or anyone interested in creativity and coaching. No creative skills are necessary. One of the key misconceptions around creativity in coaching is that it’s only for creatives; we will be busting this myth and unpacking the importance of creativity as a coaching tool for everyone.
Day One, Thursday 18 April 2024 Session 1: Opening Panel Chat: What is Creative Coaching and Why Does it Matter? Anna Sheather is joined by Dr Nat Clegg, Karyn Prentice and Elaine Patterson to discuss what creative coaching is, who it is for, the research behind it and why it matters. Session 2: Playfulness in Coaching Stephanie Wheeler and Teresa Leyman will share their research in this interactive, reflective session, inviting participants into their own playfulness to help them step into the creative space as a coach.
Session 3: Are You Having A Laugh? David Love will share his story about creative coaching, using cartooning and discuss the role of humour and provocation in coaching. Does coaching need it?
Session 4: Improvisation for Coaches and Leaders Julie Flower will demonstrate a creative approach to professional development. Participants will take part in simple improv ideas, with breakout rooms for reflection.
Day Two, Friday 19 April 2024 Session 5: Creative Reflection in Supervision Auriel Majumdar and Stephen Brown will take you through a live demo coaching session with a client, followed by a live demo supervision reflecting on that session. The session will be immersive and interactive.
Session 6: Coaching with Movement In this reflective, interactive session, Pearl Jordan will help participants explore the use of movement to uncover their own biases and fears, stretch their comfort zones while providing insights, greater self-awareness and integrity as a coach.
Session 7: The Power of Poetry in Coaching Poetry therapist and coach Charmaine Pollard will use poetry to help participants explore their future as coaches – what they want and how they want to grow.
Session 8: Closing Panel Chat: Creative Coaching - Best Practice and Beyond Beth Clare McManus, Andréa Watts, Jackee Holder and Sally Waters will bring together the core principles and ethics of creative coaching and its future in the coaching industry.

Our Speakers Anna Sheather is an APECS-accredited master executive coach and an AC-accredited master supervisor, as well as an artist. As she developed and grew as a coach, the more she has been drawn to combining her passion for creating with her passion for coaching. She has developed a formal art-based coaching (ABC) approach through research and practice and offers accredited ABC development programmes for coaches including the ADCT Diploma in Art-Based Coaching. Anna shares her approach, practice, research, and writing through her website ART in Coaching and my book, ‘Coaching Beyond Words – Using Art to Deepen and Enrich Our Conversations’, Routledge 2019. She has been running Élan Coaching, her executive coaching practice, since January 2007 and ART in Coaching since 2016.
Karyn Prentice and Elaine Patterson are Senior Faculty at the Coaching Supervision Academy International Ltd. They are seasoned coaches, supervisors, and writers. Together, they are Patterson Prentice Designs, an award-winning team bringing their creativity to the world of leadership and professional practice. They teach an EMCC Global EQA Accredited Diploma programme called 'Cultivating and Choreographing the Rich Tapestry of Wholehearted Creativity.' They have published several books and contributed to significant research.
Dr Nat Clegg is an experienced Executive Coach, Coach Psychologist, Facilitator, International Trainer and Hypno-psychotherapist. He has a Ph.D in Coaching Psychology, Post Graduate Diploma in Coaching, a BA Hons in Fine Art and a PGCE. Nat works across the world, providing training in leadership and management, strategic change transition and specialises in team building and team development, where he is able to use his creative talents to design enjoyable retreats for whole teams that want to improve their performance, relationships or service delivery. He has also provided facilitation, training and coaching services to many United Nations Agencies.
Stephanie Wheeler and Teresa Leyman are accredited individual and systemic team coaches, passionate about supporting the flourishing of individuals, teams and organizations. Stephanie is a LEGO® Serious Play® facilitator, writes for The LSP Magazine and has written peer-reviewed research articles. Teresa is an agile coach and supervisor with experience in leading hi-tech, complex change.
David Love is an experienced leadership coach and supervisor who uses art and cartooning to provide clients with different ways of seeing. The use of cartooning has grown out of activities outside work such as creating humorous books for his two young grandchildren. David has a strong belief in the power of art and cartooning to generate new insights that would not have emerged through the more usual ways of addressing topics. They open up opportunities for clients to explore highly personal matters and to map the systemic factors involved in a situation. David also believes that humanity needs all the creative endeavour we can muster if we are to tackle existential threats such as inequality, poverty, and the climate crisis.
Julie Flower is an experienced management consultant, coach and organizational development practitioner interested in developing adaptive leadership. As an improvised comedy performer, she can also use creative techniques to energize development, leading to improved performance and more joyful, dynamic teams. Julie holds an MBA in Public Service Management, the ILM Level 7 Executive Coaching and Leadership Mentoring Certificate and the Certificate in Systemic Team Coaching. Julie is enrolled for the MSc in Coaching and Behaviour Change at Henley Business School.
Auriel Majumdar is a Creative Coach, Educator and Supervisor. Former Course Leader for the MSc. Coaching and Mentoring at Sheffield Hallam University, Auriel now teaches coaching and mentoring internationally. Her practice emphasizes creative techniques to challenge individuals and teams to reflect on their experiences so they can continuously learn and develop. Auriel is an EMCC accredited Master Practitioner coach and supervisor.
Stephen Brown is an experienced consultant, an EMCC-accredited coach at Senior Practitioner level and holds professional qualifications through the Institute of Personnel & Development, IFS School of Finance and Academy of Executive Coaching Scotland. He is the director of Jemco Consultancy Ltd., a facilitator and coach educator, a music composer and creator, and hosts his coaching podcast channel – The Stretch Podcast.
Pearl Jordan is a Performance and Wellbeing specialist, speaker, trainer, and coach known for bringing joy, energy and enthusiasm to any stage of life. She founded The Rhythmic Remedy®, a movement-inspired and holistic approach to personal and professional development. Pearl's career spans 30-plus years within the performance industry and more than 15 years in the health and wellbeing sector. Pearl innately knows how to help people show up and deliver their best performance, whether on the actual stage or the stage of life.
Charmaine Pollard is a registered accredited Counsellor with the BACP, Life Coach and one of a handful of Certified Poetry Therapists in the UK, having trained with the International Federation for Biblio/Poetry Therapy in the USA. She is also the author of 'Writing for Resilience: Finding the Courage to Bounce Back.' She facilitates poetry therapy groups and therapeutic writing workshops in various settings, including clinical settings, schools, churches, libraries, museums, prisons, and The National Archives.
Beth Clare McManus is a coach psychologist, and illustrator, supporting individuals and organizations to develop, using a visual and engaging approach. Her research on using music and mark-making in coaching supervision to support professional reflective practice and connection to the self is published in 'Philosophy of Coaching’.Beth is an EMCC senior practitioner Coach/Mentor and holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Human Resource Management, an MSc in Organizational Psychology, and an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology and is currently studying for a PhD.
Andréa Watts is the founder of UnglueYou® and the first specialist in coaching with collage. She delivers ICF-accredited training to coaches and is the author of 'Collage as a Creative Coaching Tool: A Comprehensive Resource for Coaches and Psychologists.' Andréa guest lectures at City University and has led a coaching psychology module at Birkbeck.
Jackee Holder is an Executive Leadership Coach, Coach Trainer, Coach Supervisor and Creativity Expert working across various sectors, including NHS, further education, higher education, media, public sectors and cultural and creative industries. Her creative and intuitive approach brings learning and training alive whilst offering skilful facilitation and embodiment of coaching and personal development in real and practical ways. She is the author of 'Soul Purpose', 'Be Your Own Best Life Coach', and '49 Ways to Write Yourself Well' and has contributed to several books, including Inside Creativity Coaching and The Creativity Workbook for Coaches, edited by Eric Maisel.
Sally Waters is a coach with an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology. She works with clients as they navigate the complexities of life and work, creating space for clients to hear themselves think, and putting wellbeing at the heart of coaching conversations. She is exploring the role of creativity in her coaching practice and can be found writing about life, work, creativity and wellbeing on Substack. Sally is also a co-lead of the EMCC’s Coaching Psychology Special Interest Group.
