Supervising a Neurodiverse Coach

Live Coaching Demonstration with Professor David Clutterbuck

Supervision is a vital space for reflection, ethical practice, and professional growth. When neurodiversity is part of the coaching relationship, supervision can also become a powerful arena for deep authenticity, perspective-taking, and creative sense-making.

This live coaching demonstration offers a rare opportunity to observe Professor David Clutterbuck, one of the original pioneers of coaching and mentoring, working one-to-one with a neurodiverse coach in a real supervision conversation.

What to expect

In this live session, David Clutterbuck will demonstrate supervision with a volunteer coach who identifies with one or more neuro-traits, such as autism, ADHD, and/or high sensitivity (HSP). Drawing on decades of experience in supervision, mentoring, and research, David will explore how supervision can:

  • Create psychological safety for neurodiverse coaches
  • Honour differences while maintaining professional and ethical standards
  • Leverage diverse ways of thinking, sensing, and meaning-making
  • Support coaches to work authentically and effectively with their clients

Participants will have the opportunity to observe the supervisory process as it unfolds, gaining insight into how a master practitioner listens, intervenes, and adapts his approach in response to the unique needs of the coach.

Why attend?

This session is particularly valuable for:

  • Coach supervisors working with neurodiverse coaches
  • Coaches who identify as neurodivergent and want to deepen their understanding of supervision
  • Coaches and supervisors interested in inclusive, reflective practice
  • Anyone curious about how supervision can move beyond models into presence, relationship, and meaning

As with all live demonstrations, the focus is not on “getting it right”, but on learning from what emerges in the moment — including uncertainty, curiosity, and ethical awareness.
