What activities can I include in my CPD?

The AC will accept the following activities you may wish to include in your CPD, although the list is not exhaustive:

Input-oriented activities

  • Courses or workshops you have attended as a participant
  • Seminars, lectures and conferences you have attended as a participant
  • Studying for further qualifications (coach-related) e.g. diplomas, Masters etc.
  • Reading books, journals, online magazines, newsletters
  • Online discussion forums e.g. AC LinkedIn discussions you have participated in or followed
  • AC Group Supervision Experience calls you have attended

Output-oriented activities

  • Developing others through designing, developing or delivering training, workshops, seminars, CPD events etc.
  • Presenting at conferences, lecturing
  • Writing books, articles, papers, book reviews etc.
  • Leading online discussion forums, e.g. AC LinkedIn discussions
  • Publishing research
  • Involvement in AC volunteer work

We ask that individuals undertake a specific number of hours of CPD each year, according to the requirements of their AC Membership or AC Accredited status, so we do not operate a system of allocating CCEU points to activities.

We do, however, recognize CPD activities for those organizations offering ongoing learning and development, not exclusive to coach training. This allows their participants evidence of hours taken of ongoing professional development. This may apply to courses, workshops, certifications, webinars and events which can be used towards CPD elements of AC accreditation and other related programmes.

Organizations offering these activities do not need to be members of the AC in order to qualify, provided they meet the criteria below:

  • As part of this scheme training and professional development organizations will have their courses, webinars and learning modules validated with AC CPD hours. This provides an additional level of professional assurance and credibility of their services and demonstrating a focus on excellence.
  • All organizations will receive an editable AC CPD Hours Scheme certificate that they can provide to their participants.
  • Organizations who validate their hours through the CPD Hours Scheme will be provided with
    1. An AC CPD Scheme certificate to reflect the validated hours.
    2. A quality assurance “Mark” to show that they are part of the AC CPD Hours Scheme and to validate the CPD hours represented by the course.
    3. This Mark may also be used within the organization's promotional materials and website.

In summary, we count other bodies CPD activities that have CCEU points as CPD for our members. At the moment, other bodies do not count our CPD certificates as CCEU points towards their certification.
