Ellie Highwood, Coach and Diversity and Inclusion Consultant, joins our host, Dr Julie Scanlon, to discuss how to coach women and men in male-dominated sectors of the workplace, and how coaching at the individual level intersects with systemic change. As an ex-scientist and academic, Ellie understands very well some of the challenges faced by women in male-dominated sectors. In this interview, she shares her experiences of the pivotal moments that bring women to coaching, the overt and more covert discrimination and inequity that exists, and the importance of recognizing intersectionality.

Ellie Highwood is a leadership, career and personal development coach at Send Them Soaring, specializing in coaching academics and researchers. She is also an equity, diversity & inclusion consultant at Equasense, developing consciously inclusive leaders, teams, and organizations, enabling meaningful D&I actions, and supporting EDI teams. Ellie has over 20 years of experience in mentoring, coaching, teaching, training, and leadership, having spent 20 years as a climate scientist and four years as the Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Reading.
