AC Workshop: Coaching without Goals

Coaching is often seen as goal-focused - yet many clients arrive unsure what they want to work on. In Third Generation Coaching, Reinhard Stelter shows that goals aren’t always necessary. Instead, the work becomes dialogical and grounded in the present moment. Join Reinhard Stelter and Yannick Jacob to explore goal orientation, reflect with fellow coaches, and expand your sense of what coaching can be.

Coaching without Goals

Coaching is often understood as goal-focused work, with coach and client partnering toward defined outcomes.
Yet many coaches meet clients who arrive unsure what they want to work on. For some, this can feel like a barrier. For others, discovering direction becomes the work itself.

In existential coaching - and in approaches Reinhard Stelter describes as Third Generation Coaching - establishing a goal is not always necessary. Instead, the work is dialogical, relational, and grounded in what unfolds in the moment.

In this workshop, Reinhard Stelter and Yannick Jacob will explore goal orientation from their respective perspectives before opening the conversation to participants.

There will be space to listen, reflect, ask questions, engage with fellow coaches, and expand your understanding of what coaching is, how it can work, and what becomes possible when we shift from “doing” to truly “being with” our clients.

In this workshop, you will learn:

a) When it may be appropriate - or even necessary - to work without a defined goal
b) How to reflect more deeply on your own coaching and dialogue practice
c) How to better understand what clients truly need in the moment
d) How coaching conversations are shaped by wider social and cultural contexts
e) How to create sustainability and lasting impact through dialogical practice
