Julie Flower, leadership and team development practitioner, joins host Simone Sweeney for an insightful discussion on how coaches can help leaders develop the skills they need to work with the ambiguity and change of the modern world. Julie has a long background of working with the public sector, government and third sector, and so understands the pressures leaders have faced in these sectors in recent years, describing it as a ‘perfect storm’. She shares the types of change she has been coaching leaders and teams with, what it means to lead today, its wider context and how coaches can help.

Guest Bio

Julie Flower is a leadership and team development practitioner and ICF-accredited coach with a background in public service and third sector leadership. Julie is also an External Tutor in Coaching at Henley Business School, teaching on the MSc in Coaching for Behavioural Change and the Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching. She runs a leadership development practice, “The Specialist Generalist”, and works internationally with leading consultancies, across a range of sectors. She is a specialist in supporting leaders to navigate and thrive in complex and uncertain systems. Julie is a co-editor of Passmore, J. et al. (eds.) (2021, 2022, 2023) Coaching Tools. Volumes 1, 2 and 3.

 

Julie is an experienced improvised comedy performer and storyteller and has taken successful shows to Edinburgh Fringe and other international festivals. She has shared her research and practice on improv and coaching with various audiences, including The British Psychological Society, the ICF UK Conference, the Association for Coaching and the London Coaching Group.
