Mental Health Guidelines for Coach SupervisorsIn alignment with the Association for Coaching's Code of Ethics, it is implicit that practitioners, coaches and coach supervisors consider the mental health and wellbeing of their clients in their work and ensure their own self care. Upholding ethical standards promotes trust and provides a framework for safeguarding emotional and psychological health in service of our members and their clients. As coaches and supervisors, it is our role to create a supportive, safe, and nurturing environment that supports the mental health and well being of our clients, thus ensuring positive psychological growth and professional development is achieved systemically for the individual and the organisation or context in which the client operates. The MHWB Best Practice Guidelines for Coach Supervisors has been written to support coach supervisors who may encounter mental health and wellbeing (MHWB) issues in their work with supervisees and their clients (coachees). It offers guidance on contracting, offering appropriate, targeted interventions (note: not therapeutic interventions) and strategies to support the supervisee (coach), the supervisee’s client (coachee), and the overall coaching process.
